On Monday, 12 May, at approximately 04:30, a fatal accident occurred at Yara’s Siilinjärvi mine in the maintenance of Tapojärvi’s rolling stock.
In connection with the maintenance work, one person was crushed under the machine transport loader. The rescue department was immediately alerted, but the person could not be rescued.
All maintenance and mining operations were suspended. Psychological support and crisis assistance have been offered to the personnel. The causes of the accident are being investigated in cooperation with the authorities.

Since 2022, Tapojärvi has acted as an alliance partner for Yara’s Siilinjärvi mine and was responsible for drilling, loading and transporting, among other things, in the mining area.
