New service contract in action in only six weeks
In 2023, a two-building terraced house complex was completed on Linnuntie, Siilinjärvi. This year, a similar but slightly larger complex will be built on Jussintie. The terraced houses are developed by Tapojärven Kiinteistöt Oy.
The Linnuntie houses consist of two separate buildings with a total of seven apartments. These are identical 3-bedroom apartments with a kitchen, living room, bathroom, sauna, and separate toilet. The properties also include outdoor parking spaces.
“The basic principle behind the terraced houses developed on Jussintie is the same as for the previous property. The Jussintie property will be slightly larger with a total of eleven apartments,” says Real Estate Engineer Eveliina Rousu.
The terraced houses are built for Tapojärvi Oy’s employees working at the Yara Siilinjärvi mine. They can live in the apartments during their working week.
Home near the work site
Tapojärvi decided to build its own housing facilities when suitable apartments were not available. The company wants to invest in properties close to long-lasting industrial centres.
“We found suitable plots of land in Siilinjärvi and decided to invest in real estate. By building new properties, we can provide our employees with comfortable and high-quality homes near the work site.”
Tapojärvi employees work in a mine alliance between Yara Siilinjärvi and Tapojärvi. Some of Tapojärvi’s employees are locals or live permanently near Siilinjärvi, but some travel long distances – up to hundreds of kilometres – to work at the Siilinjärvi mine.
“Providing homes near the work site helps increase employee safety and well-being because the trip from home to work is short,” says Rousu.
Tapojärvi has previously invested in terraced houses in the vicinity of the Kevitsa mine in Sodankylä. In addition, the company owns apartments in Tornio, Kemi, and Kuopio.
